11 Day Kili and Serengeti Safari
A combination of Tanzania’s most famous and prolific game parks, with the opportunity to conquer Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro.
This is an "Overland Adventure". What is Overlanding?
Day 1 | Moshi
From Nairobi, travel to Moshi in Tanzania by shuttle bus and spend the night in a hotel where your guide will give a full briefing on what to expect from your Kilimanjaro climb.
Days 2 to 6 | Mt Kili trek, Marangu Route
Over the next five days attempt to climb Africa’s highest mountain. Each day's trek, between 5 - 7 hours, takes us through rainforests and waterfalls and onto the high moorland, dotted with giant plant life. Camps en route have solar-powered sleeping huts and beds with pillows, in communal dorms. On day four we depart in the early hours of the morning to reach the summit Uhuru Peak (5,895m) by sunrise. Reaching the top is a huge personal achievement and you will really feel that you are standing on the ‘Roof of Africa’. Be aware that you may need an extra acclimatization day for the climb which is taken on the ascent at the Horombo hut. After the descent return to Moshi.
Day 7 | Lake Manyara National Park
Spend the next three days exploring Tanzania’s most famous game parks, beginning with the scenic Lake Manyara. Lying at the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment - an area of marshes, grassland and acacia woodland, Lake Manyara is an ornithological spectacle - but look out for its tree-climbing lions! Here you will also find leopard, elephant and large numbers of flamingo which form a pink fringe around the lake shore.
Day 8 | Olduvai Gorge, Serengeti National Park
We explore the origins of man at Olduvai Gorge before continuing to the Serengeti National Park, with its vast plains and abundant wildlife, where you maybe lucky enough to spot the Big 5 - elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard. Camp each night withins the confines of the park.
Day 9 | Serengeti National Park
A full day of game viewing in this spectacular natural environment.
Day 10 | Ngorongoro Crater
One last morning game drive in the Serengeti before travelling to our camp near the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world and a World Heritage Site, supporting one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa. We enjoy sensational views of the crater floor before descending into the park for further game-driving.
Day 11 | Arusha - Nairobi
Take the shuttle back to Arusha, enjoying the views across the Great Rift Valley and the many Masai villages. From Arusha a shuttle bus takes you back to the starting point of Nairobi where the tour ends.
