Cape Town Shark Dive
This is the ultimate adrenaline-pumping thrill: getting up close and personal with nature's deadliest predator. Think Discovery's Shark Week, only in real life! The frigid waters off Cape Town provide a home for some of the greatest concentrations of great white sharks in the world, who come here to feast upon the 50,000 or so Cape fur seals that inhabit the Dyer Island seal colony. Previous dive experience isn't necessary, and ample photographic opportunities abound, both in the cage and from the comforts of the boat.
Highlights of this full day tour include: scenic morning drive to Gaansbai; breakfast at "The Great White Shark House", where the dive master gives a full briefing of the day's procedures; anchoring at Dyer Island and Geyser rock, which boasts an enormous colony of Cape fur seals; watching the crew lure the sharks to the boat with chum; lowering the cage into water when the first shark arrives; slipping into the provided wetsuits and entering the shark's underwater world...followed by shared stories onboard while eating picnic lunch.
An excellent day trip while enjoying Cape Town, easily added to the beginning or end of a safari itinerary.
Please note, as this is weather-dependent and working with wild animals, sightings cannot be guaranteed.
